Aviagen launches production management school
Press release
Global poultry genetics company Aviagen has announced the launch of its first production management school for customers based in Europe, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, following the success of similar schools in the US, China and Brazil.
The new school will cater to poultry professionals in the broiler industry in these regions and will complement and build on the experience of Aviagen's customer education programmes.
"The key aim of the new school is to provide poultry education to customers' production and technical managers. Participants will have an ideal opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the main drivers in the poultry meat industry," says Graeme Dear, General Manager of Aviagen Limited. "This will enable them to manage, through best practice, broiler breeder flocks with optimum welfare, biological and economic performance."
The course structure will be modular, with individual week-long courses on the management of broilers, breeders and hatchery/incubation. The modules are developed by international technical service manager Nick Spenceley, who has extensive technical and commercial expertise from his 30 years with Aviagen. Nick has also worked across a number of countries in Europe.
The first module will be held in Edinburgh from August 25 to September 1 at Heriot-Watt University and will focus on breeder management. It will include a series of lectures, practical workshops and demonstrations and will be presented by Aviagen specialists and external experts.
