Turkey's grain production decrease in 2010

 

 

Turkey raised its production of key commodities like corn and soy in 2010 so local grain, fruit and vegetable cultivation in 2010 were affected and fell by a large margin simultaneously, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute or TurkStat.

 

The TurkStat report shows that Turkey's total grain production decreased by 2.5%.

 

In 2010, Turkey recorded about 32.7 million tonnes of grain production.

 

Turkish wheat production in 2010 fell by 4.6% to 19.6 million tonnes and barley production fell by 0.8% to 7.2 million tonnes while Turkish corn production increased by 1.4% to 4.3 million tonnes.

 

Similarly, Turkey raised its oil seed production in 2010 whereby soy production increased by 125.1% to 86,540 tonnes.
