Pfizer launches new vaccines to offer breeding herd protection

Pfizer Animal Health has launched two vaccines against reproductive diseases such as porcine parvovirus erysipelas and leptospirosis.

FarrowSure GOLD protects against porcine parvovirus (PPV), erysipelas and five strains of leptospirosis while FarrowSure GOLD B gives protection from the same seven diseases, as well as adding protection against Leptospira bratislava.

"Parvo, lepto, and erysipelas vaccination is an important component of any breeding herd health program," says Steve Sornsen, DVM, MS, director of veterinary services for Pfizer Animal Health.

FarrowSure GOLD helps provide protection for 18 weeks, the longest labelled duration of erysipelas immunity available.

In addition, Pfizer has the manufacturing capacity to ensure a consistent, uninterrupted supply, he added.

These products also have the advantage of a low-volume dose and are available in both 50-dose and 250-dose sizes, the company added.

Pfizer has tested FarrowSure GOLD under field conditions in approximately 1,340 sows and gilts receiving single or multiple doses.
