Egypt may import 30 percent Brazilian beef

Egypt may source 30 percent of its beef supplies from Brazil, according to the Brazilian Halal Food Centre (Cibal) supervisor Tamer Mansur in its participation to the 40th Cairo International Fair.

Michel Alaby from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce who also joined the event said Egyptian delegates have sought proposals for the development of meat trade between two parties. Alaby noted Egypt's meat importer union president Alaa Radwan has asked assistance for exporters who could sell at lower quantities of beef to pave way for Egyptian importers to gradually purchase its beef from Brazil.

Alaby said Radwan was invited to visit Brazil by Cibal director general, Mohamed El Zobgi to explore more beef trade and inspect the country's beef management systems.
