Dutch delegation visits Bangladesh to share expertise on strengthening poultry sector

A delegation of PoultryTechBangladesh's Dutch consortium partners visited Bangladesh as part of efforts to share their expertise on strengthening the Asian country's poultry sector, strengthen business ties, and facilitate trade between the two countries, Bdnews24 reported.

Larive International, Hato Agricultural Lighting, Van Aarsen, Hendrix Genetics, Mavitec, Nutreco, and Aeres International representatives were part of the delegation, as did officials from the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka.

PoultryTechBangladesh is a public-private partnership comprised of leading Dutch and Bangladeshi companies active across the poultry value chain.

The programme aims to improve business ties between parties involved in the Dutch and Bangladeshi poultry value chains, leading to increased trade, investment, and cooperation and helping the Bangladesh poultry industry become more competitive and sustainable.

Larive International and LightCastle Partners are the consortium's coordinating partners, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency co-funded of the programme.

In 2022, trainers from Aeres International led a training session for workers of Bangladeshi consortium partners using a training of trainers (ToT) model to ensure knowledge transfer and increase capacity at the ground level.

Participants from Aftab Bahumukhi Farms and Nourish Poultry participated in sessions for neighbourhood small-scale farmers under the supervision of Helmich van Rees, a senior trainer from Aeres International, during a week-long training programme this year.

PoultryTechBangladesh also facilitated a partnership between Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd and Hendrix Genetics SASSO during the visit, in order to trial coloured or traditional broiler breeds in Bangladesh. The trail will begin in May 2023.
