Number of sick pigs in Denmark not getting right treatment dropped, inspection figures showed

Inspection figures showed pig producers in Denmark have become better at taking care of sick animals.
Sick and injured pigs are the most frequent reason for sanctions by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, but the number of such pigs not receiving the correct treatment has decreased, inspection figures revealed.
Supervisors had to give sanctions to 21% of the 228 control visits to both sow and finishing herds carried out from November 2021 to mid-March 2022. This is a significant improvement compared to 2018 when 32% of the herd owners received sanctions.
