Argentina grain markets shuttered this week due to farm strike
Argentina's grain markets were shut down this week, as traders adhered to a nationwide farm strike.
"The trade floor was empty, with the usual players in the grain market choosing not to participate in support of the farmers' decision last Friday to go on strike until midnight on March 27," the Rosario Grain Exchange said.
Soy haven't been traded since Friday (March 20), when local crushers bought spot soy for ARS850 (US$270) per tonne.
May soy was priced at US$230 per tonne last Friday.
Exporters bought spot corn for between ARS380 and ARS410 last Friday. April 2009 corn sold at US$111.10 per tonne last Friday.
Spot wheat hasn't been traded in Rosario for about three weeks, when it sold for ARS460 per tonne.
