Lithuanian grain stocks grow despite poor harvest
Despite a poor harvest in 2006, Lithuania's grain and oilseed rape stocks were higher at the end of January this year than a year earlier as a result of increased imports, the Agriculture Information and Rural Business Center (RIBC) reported.
The country's grain and oilseed rape stocks amounted to 524,600 tonnes at the end of January, up 5.2 percent from the same period a year ago.
Lithuania's grain harvest fell by 34.1 percent last year to 1.893 million tonnes due to adverse weather conditions.
