Ukraine's winter crops sowings reveal 23.4% in good condition
As of March 22, 23.4%winter crops sowings in Ukraine faced good and satisfactory conditions throughout 63.4% of the general areas, informed the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, according to data from regions.
According to information of the Ministry, winter grain sowings in Ukraine faced good conditions throughout 1.7 million ha, or 23.4% of the general sowing areas. Winter crops throughout 2.9 million ha of the sowings, or 40%, were in satisfactory condition. Nearly 28.1% of the areas, or 2.07 million ha, showed weak and thinned condition.
Agrarians received growing sprouts throughout 87.8% of the general areas of 8.39 million ha planted with winter crops.
The general condition of winter rapeseed sowings faced little changes. In particular, 27.4% of winter rapeseed sowings showed good condition â€“ 210.3 thsd ha (as of March 15 - 216 thsd ha), 30.4% or 233 thsd ha - satisfactory (234 thsd ha), 24.7% or 189.5 thsd ha - weak and thinned.
According to the State Statics Service, Ukraine sowed winter crops for grain and green fodder, including rapeseed, throughout 9.4 million ha for the harvest of 2012, up 1.9% compared to the harvest in 2011. The sowing areas under winter grains increased by 3.8% to the level of 8.4 million ha.
