Romania may resume pork exports to EU in July

Romania may resume exports of pork meat and finished products to EU in July, unless EU specialists who are currently checking for the existence of outbreaks of swine flu in Romania present unfavourable reports.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture secretary of state Adrian Radulescu, Romania is currently exporting only finished products made from meat pork, the country importing the meat from the EU and then exporting it back as finished product.

European Commission had decided in September 2007 to prolong the ban imposed on the Romanian companies that were supplying the European markets with pork, for the swine flu outbreak was still not under control.
