AKVA Group to open second salmon hatchery in Chile

AKVA Group has signed a contract worth EUR 2 million (US$3.1 million) with Sealand Aquaculture S.A. for the construction of a recirculating salmon hatchery in Chile's 10th region.

The contract means that AKVA will be having a second recirculation hatchery in Chile. The first hatchery produces kingfish in northern Chile.

The UNI Recirculation System has a capacity of 6 million smolts produced in six cycles, and the system uses both freshwater and saltwater sources to create the best environment for all stages of the process from egg to smolt with high biosecurity standards.

The acquisition of UNI-Aqua and DANAQ has enabled AKVA Group to strengthen its position as the leading technology supplier to the aquaculture industry.

AKVA Group is an aquaculture technology supplier with more than 25 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of steel cages, plastic cages, work boats, feed systems, feed barges, sensor systems and fish farming software.
