China permits first pork processing facility in Panama to export pork to country

The Customs Administration of China has confirmed the certification of the first pork processing plant in Panama which is now permitted to export pork products to China as it complies with sanitary measures and quality standards.
The certification opens up business opportunities and access to international markets for Panamanian pork production, which will directly impact the creation of agricultural jobs for Panama's pork production sector and economy, according to the country's Ministry of Agricultural Development.
The certified company, UNGASA, SA, is based in the province of Los Santos. Its approval is the result of a nearly three-year-long process of analysis, documentation, inspections, evaluation and joint work between the plant, the General Administration of Customs of China, the Ministry of Agricultural Development, the Ministry of Health and the Foreign Ministry of Panama via the Embassy of Panama in China and the Chinese Embassy in Panama.
With the approval, a total of three new Panamanian export plants have been added to China in the last six months, which strengthens, increases and opens new opportunities for the Panamanian agricultural sector to generate more production, employment and wealth for the country.
