Approximately 10,368 pounds of Italian turkey sausage products are being recalled by Perdue Farms Inc. in Washington after an undeclared allergen was found in the products.
According to USDA's Food Safety & Inspection Service, the products were processed using an ingredient mixture that contained milk, a known source of potential allergen, which was not declared on the label.
Having discovered the problem, Perdue Farms announced that the products being recalled are 16-ounce packages of "Perdue, Sweet Italian, Lean, Turkey Sausage." Each package bears an expiration date of March 30, 2010, a UPC Code "72745-10301," and the establishment number "Est. P-286" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The turkey sausage products were manufactured between March 3 and March 15 this year, and were distributed to retail establishments in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
