China's shrimp exports to the US to shrink by 17 percent
Experts estimate that China's shrimp shipments to the US will drop from 54,000 tonnes in 2007 to around 44,000 to 45,000 this year, dropping by 17 percent.
The Aquatic Product Chamber of Commerce under the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce reported that after the antidumping investigation and measures taken by the US on China's prawn exports in 2004, China's prawn market fluctuated considerably in 2007.
Last year's shrimp exports volume to the US dropped by 20 percent on-year, while the shipments' value of US$260 million registered a 21-percent decline against 2006 figures.
