New cultured meat products to be developed by Charoen Pokphand Foods and Future Meat Technologies

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) and Future Meat Technologies will collaborate to develop hybrid cultured meat products for the Asian market.

The announcement follows Israeli-based Future Meat Technologies launch of the first  cultured meat production line in the world located south of Tel Aviv. The plant is able to produce 500kg of products daily.

Products from Future Meat are non-GMO. The company's technology allows chicken, lamb, pork, and beef cells to grow indefinitely without the use of genetic modification. It's proprietary engineering technology is able to produce cultured meat at less than US$16 per pound.

Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO at CPF, said they have received positive market reception for their company's plant-based products under the Meat Zero brand in 2021, and they will expand to the US and European markets this year.

Prasit said they are excited to be working with Future Meat to combine their expertise and deliver exceptional products for Asian markets, as they aim to become one of the leading alternative protein companies.
