In 2009, the industrial production of chicken meat in Ukraine advanced by 13%, according to the analytical department of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.
As of March 1, 2010 the agricultural enterprises had 97 million heads of poultry, which is 12.7% more than last year's figure. The total number in all categories of farms was 177.4 million heads, or 145% of heads in 2000, when chicken meat was the most expensive meat.
During January-February 2010 the volume of poultry meat production amounted to 113% against the corresponding level in 2009 and 123% - to the level of 2008, reaching 121,300 tonnes.
Compared with other countries such as China and the EU, despite the lack of government support, Ukraine demonstrates the most rapid development of poultry industry, and experts said that Ukraine has potential for further development.
