Hong Kong suspends poultry imports from bird flu affected areas in the US
Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said they have suspended imports of poultry meat and products from bird flu-affected areas in the US, Xinhua News reported.
The CFS, of the Hong Kong government's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said the suspension was imposed following a notification from the World Organisation for Animal Health about highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu outbreaks in the US.
Exports from the following areas have been suspended: Maryland state (Queen Anne's County), Wisconsin state (Jefferson County), Iowa state (Taylor County), and Missouri state (Lawrence County and Jasper County).
The suspension of imports from the affected areas includes poultry eggs.
