Ukraine meat output down 21.6% in February
In February 2010, Ukraine's production of meat in live weight decreased by 21.6% or 57,400 tonnes compared with January 2010, to 208,700 tonnes, the State Statistics Committee has informed.
Production of meat by private farms decreased by 40.4% or by 62,800 tonnes in February 2010, compared with January 2010, to 92,500 tonnes. Specialised farms increased meat production by 4.9% or 5,400 tonnes to 116,200 tonnes.
In February 2010, meat production grew by 6.9% or 13,400 tonnes, compared with February 2009.
In an earlier report, meat production grew by 3.4% or 15,800 tonnes in January-February 2010, compared with January-February 2009, to 474,800 tonnes.
In January, the production of meat in live weight decreased by 22.5% or 77,200 tonnes compared with December 2009, to 266,100 tonnes.
In 2009, meat production rose by 0.2% or 5,200 tonnes to 2,728,400 tonnes, compared with 2008 (according to the refined data, meat production in 2008 made up 2,723,200 tonnes).
