Russian cattle numbers in February down 2.3 percent on-year
                                    


The number of cattle in Russia on February 28 totalled 20.9 million, down 2.3 percent on the year, the federal statistics service said Friday (Mar 20).

 

The number of cows on that date fell by 3 percent on the year to 9 million, while the number of pigs increased by 2.1 percent on the year to 16.4 million. 

 

Total meat output in Russia in January and February, including cattle and poultry in live weight, increased by 7.1 percent on the year to 1.3 million tonnes.
