Vietnam-Czech business forum aims to boost agriculture sector ties

The Vietnam-Czech business forum, held in Hanoi on March 20, 2024, served as a platform to foster investment and business prospects for firms from both countries in the agriculture sector, Vietnam News reported.

Organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vietnam in collaboration with the Czech Chamber of Commerce, the forum aimed to spotlight the potential, advantages, and investment opportunities in Vietnam's farming, forestry, and fisheries sector.

Nguyen Quoc Tri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasised the forum's role in introducing Czech businesses and investors to Vietnam's agricultural landscape while facilitating trade and investment agreements between the two nations.

Tri expressed Vietnam's commitment to facilitating business, trade, and investment ties with Czech enterprises, urging support for initiatives such as the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT) with the European Union (EU).

Marek Vyborny, Czech Republic's Minister of Agriculture, echoed Tri's, said that the forum sparked new cooperation ideas and bolster project development and business activities between Vietnamese and Czech firms.

Highlighting the Czech Republic's interest in agriculture, food industry, and water resource management cooperation with Vietnam, Vyborny said his country's aim is to enhance education and training in the agricultural sector.

He noted opportunities for collaboration between Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and Vietnamese educational institutions in agriculture, forestry, and sustainable agricultural product utilisation.

Jana Havrdova, Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, disclosed that 25 Czech companies accompanying the Czech Minister of Agriculture's delegation participated in the forum. These firms specialise in brewing, dairy and meat processing, agricultural technology, and food industry.

Havrdova expressed confidence in the potential for expanding Czech-Vietnamese business cooperation, particularly in sectors such as brewing, meat production, agricultural technology, and food and beverage industries.
