Sanofi names senior vice president of Asia
Press release
French pharmaceutical company, Sanofi has appointed Bayer's former global head of animal health, Jean-Luc Lowinski as senior vice president of Asia.
Lowinski previously held senior roles in various Asian countries, serving as head of operations in Singapore, India, Thailand, china and Japan during his time at Bayer.
In 2003, he was appointed head of Bayer Healthcare China. He subsequently became head of Bayer Healthcare Asia Pacific and president, Bayer Yakuhin Japan in 2007.
"I'm confident that his deep knowledge of different Asian cultures makes him ideally suited to lead our operations to continued growth and success in the region," says Hanspeter Spek, president, global operations at Sanofi.
The pharmaceutical company saw its revenues from Asia increase by 16.6% in 2011. Its performance in Europe and the US, on the other hand, is less promising. Asia is an increasingly important market and building on Asia's performance is key in compensating for an anticipated loss attributed to increased generic competition for key products.
Sanofi's Animal Health activity, represented by Merial, is dedicated to the research, development, manufacture and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical products and vaccines for animals. Its products are used by veterinarians, stock breeders, poultry producers and pet owners.
