Kazakhstan to sow grains throughout 15.9 million hectares
In the coming spring, Kazakhstan will provide the sowing works throughout 17.6 million hectares, consisting of grain sowing areas throughout 15.9 million hectares, and oilseeds throughout 1.7 million hectares, declared Anna Buts, Director of the Department of development of land cultivation and phytosanitary security of the Ministry of Agriculture.
It is predicted that agrarians will enlarge sowing areas of feed grains and leguminous crops by 88.9 thousand hectares (an increase of 4.6%), and sowing areas of forage crops by 94.9 thousand hectares (an increase of 3.8%).
At the same time, not all oblasts of the country pay much attention to diversification of the plant growing sector, and as a result the share of grains in the structure of sowing areas still remains rather high. In 2010, the structure of sowing areas in North Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Akmola oblasts formed the specific mass of grains at the level of 84-90%, in terms of the optimum scientifically based level of 65%. The same situation will happen in the current year.
