Ukraine Jan-Feb meat output up 3.4% on year

 


Ukraine produced in January and February 474,800 tonnes of beef, pork and poultry in live weight, which is 3.4% more than in the corresponding period last year, the state statistics committee reported Friday (March 19).


The proportion of beef in total meat production fell to 10.7% from 13.7% a year ago, the proportion of pork increased to 19.2% from 18.9% and the proportion of poultry increased to 69.8% from 67.3%.


The state statistics committee said commercial farms produced in January and February 227,000 tonnes of meat, 11.2% more than a year ago. The population's private holdings produced 247,800 tonnes of meat, a fall of 2.7% on the year.
