Dutch pig exports continue to grow
Dutch pig started a good run in 2007 as the country already sold 904,689 piglets and 606,466 finisher pigs from February and January, posting a growth 10.8 percent and 4.7 percent respectively, data from the Dutch Product Board for Livestock and Meat show.
The majority of the increase in piglets went to Italy, Spain, Belgium, Hungary and Croatia as lesser stocks were shipped to Romania and Poland.
More Dutch finishers went to slaughterhouses in Germany and Belgium while volume in to traditional markets Italy and Hungary have decreased.
