Pakistan to begin serious development of poultry industry

Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, Paskistan minister for food, agriculture and livestock (MinFal) has said the government is planning to create a national policy for long-term development of poultry in the country.

"Poultry is major component of livestock and it has played a significant role in bridging gap of animal protein in the country," he said.

"Commercial poultry on the other hand has made great strides since mid since mid sixties and now it is one of the important industries of the country, probably second to textile in terms of investment."

The local poultry industries provide jobs to a large number of people and are major sources of supply of eggs and meat to the population.
