India's milk output increases 5% to 221.06 million tonnes in 2021/22

 
 

 

India's government said milk output in the country increased by 5.29% to 221.06 million tonnes in 2021/22, with Rajasthan (15.05%), Uttar Pradesh (14.93%), Madhya Pradesh (8.06%), Gujarat (7.56%) and Andhra Pradesh (6.97%) making up the top five milk producing states, Business Standard reported.

 

The data was published in the annual publication "Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2022", which was launched by India's Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Parshottam Rupala.

 

The publication also reported that India produced 129.60 billion eggs overall in 2021/22, an increase of 6.19% from the previous year.

 

Andhra Pradesh state produced the most eggs in the country (20.41%), followed by Tamil Nadu (16.08%), Telangana (12.86%), West Bengal (8.84%), and Karnataka (6.38%).

 

9.29 million tonnes of meat was produced nationwide in 2021/22, with a 5.62% annual growth rate. The five states that produced the most meat overall were Maharashtra (12.25%), Uttar Pradesh (12.14%), West Bengal (11.63%), Andhra Pradesh (11.04%), and Telangana (10.82%).

 

Based on the publication, per-capita availability of milk in India is 444 g daily during 2021-22. In 2021/22, the per-capita availability of egg is 95 nos per annum. The per-capita availability of meat is 6.82 kg/annum during 2021.22.
