Bangladesh soy, egg, chicken prices up

 

 

An increased of BDT5-10 (US$0.06-0.12) in the prices of loose soy and palm oil, onion, egg and broiler chicken have been reported in the Bangladesh city's kitchen markets this week adding further sufferings to the consumers.

 

Per litre loose soyoil was sold between BDT123-125 (US$1.50-1.53), which was BDT118-120 (US$1.44-1.47) last week. On the other hand, per litre loose palm oil was sold at BDT106 (US$1.30) in the week against BDT99 (US$1.21) last week.

 

Traders at Plashi and Hatirpool kitchen markets blamed the recess in the supply chain due to the political hype over the week that pushed prices of the products to go up.

 

Canned soyoil (5 litres) was sold between BDT630-640 (US$7.70-7.83) this week depending on quality and brand.

 

Meanwhile, prices of egg and broiler chicken shoot up in the city again after a short fall during the week. Traders said the price of broiler chicken has increased as the price of chicks has gone up in the market.

 

Per kilogramme broiler chicken was sold at BDT160 (US$1.96), which was BDT140-160 (US$1.71-1.96) last week. Egg per four-piece was sold at BDT32-35 (US$0.39-0.43) this week against BDT30 (US$0.37) last week.

 

However, prices of all varieties of vegetables remained almost same as of last week in the city's kitchen markets.

 

On Friday, per kilogramme brinjal and ladies finger was sold at BDT40-45 (US$0.49-0.55), snake gourd BDT60-65 (US$0.73-0.79), bitter gourd BDT40 (US$0.49), string bean BDT80 (US$0.98) and ribbed gourd at BDT50 (US$0.61). Per kilogramme onion was sold BDT30 (US$0.37) against BDT25 (US$0.31) last week.
