Russia may export 10 to 12 million tonnes of grain in CY 2006/2007
Russia's grain exports may total 10 to 12 million tonnes in the current 2006/07 crop year (CY) which started on July 1, Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev said on Friday (March 16).
Since the start of the current crop year to January 1, Russia has exported 6.5 million tonnes of grain and before July 1, 2007 the country will be able to ship several more million tonnes of grain, said Gordeyev.
The estimate is in line with analyst forecasts.
SovEcon agricultural analysts projected Russia could export 12 million tonnes of grain in the current crop year compared with 12.6 million in 2005/06.
Russia harvested 78.6 million tonnes of grain in 2006, up from 78.2 million in 2005.
