Argentine beef exports have been limited over the past two weeks after the local Agricultural Trade Control Office (ONCCA, the entity in charge of granting export certificates) dissolved in late February.
While the government is analysing which entity will continue to allocate certificates, exporters are using certificates granted prior to the closure. Additionally, a limited number of documents are being granted by ex-ONCCA employees through orders from the local Finance Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry.
The Argentine Presidents' decision to close ONCCA has left local Ministries and government officials in a dispute for the takeover of ONCCA's powers.
Meanwhile, local exporters are unable to commit to specific volumes and shipments with importers due to the present uncertainties.
