Brazil meatpacker JBS considers suspending operations
JBS has proposed to suspend some of its slaughterhouses' operations because of China supply chain problems, reported Reuters.
JBS said it is observing how COVID-19 is impacting the market and will review the execution of holidays in its Brazil-based cattle processing units.
The company did not state which of its plants it plans to suspend operations. JBS also has chicken, pork and processed foods facilities.
Sources in the market said these measures will affect other companies in the industry, such as Minerva and Marfig Global Foods.
Marfig said its operations continue as usual but did not make further comments.
