IFF launches new animal nutrition solution for piglets

Danisco Animal Nutrition & Health, a business unit of IFF, has launched Axtra PRIME, an optimised enzyme blend created to address significant challenges in piglet production, IFF reported.

This highly efficient feed solution, which is now offered in the US, enhances gut health, improves nutrient digestion, and produces measurable performance results in swine.

Targeted nutrition is critical for successful swine production from an early age, but several issues can disrupt feed strategies and negatively affect performance during this critical time. Stress during weaning can reduce feed intake and increase diarrhoea susceptibility. Simultaneously, dietary changes and the use of less expensive ingredients frequently introduce more variability and fibre into the diet. This can have an adverse effect on nutrient digestibility and animal performance.

Madhukar Kulkarni, Danisco Animal Nutrition & Health, IFF's global segment manager for swine, said Axtra PRIME is specifically formulated to mitigate these risks by addressing key digestibility challenges.

Kulkarni said Axtra PRIME contributes to the creation of a favourable nutribiotic state in the piglet's gut by improving nutrient digestion and feed utilisation, minimising susceptibility to gut disturbances and maximising overall performance.

Axtra PRIME, a blend of xylanase, beta-glucanase, alpha-amylase, and protease enzymes, has been shown to promote healthier and faster piglet growth across a variety of diet types. A growing number of studies show that supplementing various feed formulations with this optimised enzyme blend has significant potential benefits in terms of piglet growth performance and producers' profitability.
