Largest soybean meal shipment arrives at HES Gdynia terminal, Poland

The bulk carrier CSSC Le Havre docked at the HES Gdynia terminal in Poland, marking the arrival of the largest soybean meal shipment ever received by the terminal, Dry Cargo International reported.

Loaded with over 88,000 tons of soybean meal directly from the port of Santos in Brazil, the CSSC Le Havre's arrival shatters the previous record for soybean meal shipment volume at HES Gdynia. This record was previously held by the capsize vessel Maran Astronomer, which delivered over 57,000 tonnes in March of the previous year.

The vessel, with a capacity of 120,000 deadweight tons (dwt), measures over 254m in length and boasts a draft of 12.8m.

Equipped to handle vessels of such magnitude, the HES Gdynia terminal operates storage facilities specifically designed for agricultural commodities, capable of accommodating large volumes within its warehouses.

Recent enhancements in the main seaways of the Port of Gdynia, deepening them to 16m, have further bolstered the terminal's capabilities. Additionally, plans are underway to deepen the draft at HES Gdynia terminal to 15m, ensuring even greater accessibility for larger vessels. Coupled with the construction of new storage capacities totalling 64,000 tonnes, HES Gdynia anticipates facilitating even larger shipments in the near future.
