ASF confirmed in boar carcass found in meadows in Frankfurt, Germany

 


Germany's National Reference Laboratory at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) has confirmed the suspected presence of African swine fever (ASF) in a wild boar carcass found in the northern Oder meadows of Frankfurt (Oder).

 

The carcass was found east of the fixed wild boar fence and the necessary measures were immediately initiated. The city of Frankfurt (Oder) immediately established a crisis team.

 

There are now a total of 719 confirmed ASF cases in wild boar in the state of Brandenburg, as of March 4, 2021 (Spree-Neiße district: 55; Oder-Spree district: 442; Märkisch-Oderland district: 216; Dahme-Spreewald district: 5; Frankfurt (Oder): 1)

 

So far, domestic pig herds in Germany are free of ASF.
