Another H5N8 bird flu case detected in South Korea, total cases 106
South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed a new highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu case at an egg farm in Chungju, 147 km south of Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.
All 550,000 chicken at the farm and poultry in nearby areas, will be culled to prevent the spread of be virus, with a poultry and poultry-related travel ban imposed within a 10 km radius of the farm.
There are now 106 cases of highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu in South Korea traced to poultry farms since the first outbreak was reported in November 2020.
