Brazil's February pork exports rise 20.3%
Brazil's pork exports saw a 20.3% increase in February, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
The reported exports cover all products, including fresh and processed.
A total of 81,100 tonnes were exported last month, compared to 67,400 tonnes during the same period in 2020.
The revenue from February sales totaled US$185.7 million, 19.9% higher in relation to the second month of 2020, with US$154.9 million.
In the first two months of the year, pork sales reached 144,200 tonnes, a volume 6.12% higher than the 135,900 tonnes obtained in the same period last year. The revenue for the first two months of 2021 totaled US$332.3 million, 4.1% higher than the same period last year, with US$319.1 million.
China, the main destination for Brazilian exports, imported 41,600 tonnes in February, a volume 34% higher than for the same period in 2020.
Sales to Chile (4,500 tonnes, +73.5%), Angola (3,400 tonnes, +7.4%), Singapore (3,300 thousand tonnes, +43.8%) and Argentina (2,000 tonnes, +15%) were also noteworthy.
By state, Santa Catarina remains the leading exporter, with 40,700 tonnes shipped in February (+16.3% compared to February 2020).
In second place, Rio Grande do Sul exported 21,300 tonnes (+30%). In third place, Paraná shipped 11,300 tonnes (+22.4%).
