Ukraine's grain production to reach 45.2 million tonnes
Ukraine's gross grain harvest could total 45.2 million tonnes in 2010, with the average yield of 30.1 centners per hectare, according to APK-Inform agency.
The gross harvest of winter wheat is expected to fall this year, which usually totals a main share (90-95%) in the gross wheat harvest. According to calculations, the gross harvest of this crop will total around 19.8 million tonnes in 2010, compared to 20.8 million tonnes in 2009.
The gross harvest of barley is expected at 11.5 million tonnes with the average yield of 25.5 centners per hectare, which is 3% less than last year. The harvest of winter barley will total four million tonnes and spring barley 7.5 million tonnes.
According to forecasts, the yield of rye can amount to 18.8 centners per hectare. The gross harvest of rye is expected at 536,000 tonnes against 946,000 tonnes harvested in 2009.
This year's yield of corn will slightly fall compared to last year, to 48.7 centners per hectare, while the gross corn harvest will grow to 11.3 million tonnes.
