EU milk production to rise at slower pace
Over the next couple of years, EU milk production is expected to grow, but at a slower pace, while the outlook for dairy commodities is mixed - greater cheese output, but a drop in butter production.
In its latest short term outlook, the European Commission says climatic conditions (drought in some areas, too much moisture in others) are still impacting milk supplies and margins in some regions. It expects a slight recovery, but not until 2014.
