Brazil beef exports to jump 93 percent by 2018-19

Brazil's beef exports is projected to increase 93 percent to 4.63 million tonnes cwt in the next 10 years, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

The amount represents 61 percent of total world beef trade from the current 31 percent, with a 49-percent growth in output in 15.5 million tonnes.

In the domestic market, beef is expected to be the second fastest-growing meat consumed with 2.2 percent annual growth in consumption, after chicken's 2.6 percent.

However, beef is also seen to have the slowest export growth with an annual average growth of 3 percent, after chicken's 5.6 percent and pork's 4.9 percent.
