Mexico nearer to free status from Newcastle Disease
 

 

Mexico may soon receive a disease-free status as Mexico City is the last federal district to be cleared of Newcastle disease.

 

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) published a document in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), stating federal districts which have been declared free of Newcastle disease.
 

Samples taken from various commercial and backyard poultry farms have revealed the absence of the virus which causes the disease.

 

To remain free from the disease, application of several sanitary measures for diagnosis, prevention, control, surveillance, movement control has been advised.
