Indonesia exterminates hundreds of chickens due to bird flu
The bird flu virus has affected several provinces in Indonesia, resulting in the extermination of 900 chickens in three villages, Dida Kardiana, head of Indonesia's agency of Animal and Veterinary, said.
According to reports, several hundreds of fowl have been exterminated, including chickens. The Animal husbandry department in the Banyuresmi district of Indonesia is taking all precautions to stop the spread.
Earlier, the agency had eliminated fowl in two other villages in the same district. Kardiana added that the residents had voluntarily submitted their chickens for extermination after the administration of Garut agreed to compensate the residents.
The district official assured that they will keep a close watch and take necessary steps to stop the avian flu spread. They will exterminate all infected fowl so that no more chickens die from bird flu.
