De Heus opens new shrimp feed mill in Vinh Long, Vietnam
De Heus recently held an opening ceremony of a new shrimp feed mill in the Co Chien Industrial Zone, Vinh Long province, Vietnam, on March 5.
Dignitaries graced the occasion along with customers, partners, key leaders from local authorities and members of the press also in attendance. Attendees were invited to a tour inside the feed mill to see firsthand how high-quality shrimp feeds are produced.
The establishment of the De Heus Vinh Long Shrimp Feed Mill underscores the commitment of De Heus to long-term, strategic investments in the production of highly effective shrimp feed, facilitated by a dedicated, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, the company said.
Speaking at the event, Daniel Stork, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, said: "This shrimp feed factory is not just a building; it's a significant boost for the local economy and the aquaculture industry here. By providing top-notch feed products, it's going to help shrimp farmers, improve yields and ensure food security for the community. It's a big step forward for sustainable development and economic growth in Vinh Long and beyond."
In his speech, Co de Heus, chief executive officer of Royal De Heus Group, said: "We strongly believe in the growing demand for shrimp. To support shrimp farmers, we provide high-quality feed, knowledge transfer and access to markets. We acknowledge challenges like climate change and disease outbreaks. Therefore, we are committed to sustainable practices and environmental protection through innovative technologies for the future of Vietnamese shrimp aquaculture."
Johan van den Ban, general director of De Heus Vietnam, said: "We are pleased that we are able to welcome key stakeholders in the Vietnamese and global shrimp industry here... With this investment, we are again showing the aquaculture market in general and the shrimp industry specifically that we are here to stay.
"Together with our partners upstream and downstream in the value chain, we are ready to further develop the shrimp industry in Vietnam with independent shrimp producers in a sustainable manner. Healthier shrimps, greener farms and sustainable profits for all stakeholders."
Spanning an area of 29,300 square meters, the De Heus Vinh Long Shrimp Feed Mill has an annual capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes, featuring five production lines exclusively dedicated to shrimp feed products.
Leveraging cutting-edge technology from Europe, the entire production process adheres rigorously to international quality standards such as ISO 22000, BAP, and GLOBAL GAP.
The inauguration of the feed mill underscores the aspiration of De Heus to be a major aquafeed producer encompassing both seawater and freshwater aquaculture, the company said.
