Ukraine's 2005/06 wheat exports seen at 5.5 million tonnes
Ukraine exported 4.3 million tonnes of wheat between the beginning of the current marketing year - July 1, 2005 and January 31, and is on course to export a total 5.5 million tonnes in the current marketing year, the APK-Inform market analysis company reported Thursday, quoting the state statistics committee.
Wheat export in January was 167,840 tonnes, worth US$18.43 million.
The largest importers of Ukrainian wheat were United Arab Emirates, Italy, Kenya and South Africa.
In the 2004/05 marketing year, Ukraine exported 4.38 million tonnes of wheat.
In 2005 Ukraine harvested 18.7 million tonnes of wheat, 1.18 million tonnes more than in 2004.
