Bill Gates invests in aquaculture in Greece

The Gates Foundation is financing Diorasis, a Greek-owned fund that is active in Greece's aquaculture industry through Philosofish (previously Bitsakos Fish Farming), reported Kathimerini Greece.

In addition, Greece's aquaculture is set for a shake up with Philosofish to be acquired by competitor Andromeda of Selolnda and Nireus which began last year. The European Commission will need to approve the merger once Nireus and Selonda assets are sold to third parties.

Philosofish is one of the parties, which will increase its aquaculture capacity to 12,000 tonnes from 5,000 tonnes per annum.

Philosofish is set to receive additional funding from a top investment entity currently active in the share capital of other Greek corporations.
