Japan Approves Imports Of CP Chicken Products

Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) will start exporting heat-treated poultry products today after the products were approved by a quality-inspection team from Japan as clear of bird flu yesterday.

President and chief executive Adirek Sripratak said the export value of heat-treated poultry products reached Bt1.7 billion on 12,000 tonnes last year.

Revenue is projected to rise 20 per cent this year as the company increases its focus on value-added manufacturing.

The company is scheduled to open its manufacturing complex of chicken in June this year. The new manufacturing plant is located in Nakhon Ratchasima with total capacity of 80,000 tonnes per year.

The new production plant will encourage the company's chicken export revenue to achieve Bt15 billion this year.
