African swine fever outbreaks detected in Sichuan and Hubei, China

 
 

China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has detected African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in the Sichuan and Hubei provinces, major swine production areas, Reuters reported.

 

ASF was confirmed in the Aba prefecture in Sichuan, where 38 swine out of 127 were killed by the disease.

 

In Xiangyang city in Hubei, ASF was detected on a truck of piglets transported illegally from another province. 10 out of 165 piglets were infected with ASF, with five dead.

 

Last week, China detected ASF in Yunnan province.
