Estonia seeks official recognition of being free of Aujeszky's disease
Estonia has submitted to the European Commission documentation demonstrating compliance for the whole territory of the country - with the conditions laid down in Decision 2008/185/EC - in order to be recognised as free of Aujeszky's disease.
Aujeszky's disease is a contagious, viral disease that primarily affects pigs.
Following the evaluation of that supporting documentation, Estonia would likely be recognised as free of the disease.
Italy has also submitted to the commission supporting documentation for the approval of its control programmes for the eradication of Aujeszky's disease for 13 regions and for these regions to be duly listed in Annex II to Decision 2008/185/EC. The decision lists Member States or regions where approved national control programmes for the eradication of the disease are in place.
Portugal has submitted supporting documentation for the approval of its control programmes for the eradication of Aujeszky's disease for its whole territory.
