German pork consumption drops last year

An agricultural agency has concluded that Germany's total pork consumption per person has plunge in 2011.

The German Agricultural Market Information Company (AMI) said that in 2011, total consumption per capita decreased by 1.2 kilogrammes to 38.5 kilogrammes. This development would partly be related to a higher price level.

Another reason would be a bad grilling season. Total meat consumption per capita decreased as well, by 1.1 kilogrammes to 60.6 kilogrammes.
