Multiexport Foods sets record profits

Multiexport Foods recorded a significant increase in operating income by 96% between January and December 2011, over the previous year.

During 2011, this result totalled US$56.3 million while in 2010 it had totalled US$28.7 million.

Besides, the salmon firm reached US$279 million in income last year and harvests for 35,000 tonnes.

These figures represented a 38% increase over the 2010 income and a 15% rise in volume.

These increases were due to the recovery of production and to the good prices recorded for much of 2011 in all its markets.

These figures made it the largest Chilean salmon exporting firm in the Atlantic, according to reports.

Currently, this species represents about 80% of its total production.

Meanwhile, EBITDA, before fair value adjustments, amounted to US$68.3 million.

Last week, Multiexport assured the Superintendencia de Valores Seguros (SVS) that for the time being, there have not been meetings with creditor banks to renegotiate the requested loans.
