Azerbaijan culls over one million poultry due to bird flu

Azerbaijan has culled more than a million poultry in places where the H5N1 bird flu has broke out, said Ismet Abassov, Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister.

Quarantine has been established in a 3-kilometre radius of the areas where the virus was detected. All entry and exit points have been restricted in the areas. The areas have also been disinfected.

The Health Ministry has also refuted recent rumours about the death of two teenagers from bird flu and the spread of the virus among people, adding that laboratory tests have not reported any bird flu infection yet.
