BRF obtains 15 permits to export meat to Oman

The export approval granted to the Brazilian company and world's biggest exporter of chicken will strengthen its Middle East presence, reported Reuters.

BRF said the permits allow the company to export up to 5,000 tonnes of food products monthly to Oman. BRF has been present in Oman since the 1980s.

The Middle East is home to a profitable halal market. Operating revenue derived from halal food sales for BRF hit 2.2 billion BRL (~US$475 million; 1 BRL = US$0.22) in quarter four.

BRF said the plants permitted to export to Oman are in six states in Brazil.

The company has a 12% share in the world poultry market.
